Two Threatening Bird Flu Mutations

Scientists ID Bird Flu Mutations Likely to Trigger Human Pandemic WebMD 11/15/06 - "The two human mutations give the bird flu virus the ability to attach to human cells. It's the kind of mutation seen early in the 1918, 1957, and 1968 flu pandemics, warn Shinya Yamada of the University of Tokyo and colleagues."

Is anybody else amazed at the lackadaisical response to the greatest potential of pandemic we've had in decades? Recently the cost of global warming was put in terms of economic impact so as to get politicians to act - in the Stern Report. We need a Stern Report for a bird flu pandemic.
